Yate breastfeeding group is a friendly, supportive group with lots of peer supporters on hand to help. It's a well attended group with a wide range of ages of babies/preschoolers. We welcome anyone who is offering any amount of breastmilk and Mums-to-be who want to find out more about breastfeeding. We're not only here for support, we are also a lovely social group where firm friendships have been made over the years. The children's centre offers a lovely big space with plenty of toys for older children to keep them occupied. So please join us - we run every Tuesday (including school holidays) 11.30am to 1.00pm. Getting the Room Ready |
Hi, I am Katharine and I am the Group Coordinator at the Yate Breastfeeding Group. I started attending the group fifteen years ago as a feeding parent myself when my first son was a couple of weeks old. I remember how nervous I felt starting a new group just having had a baby, but I am so glad I did. It made a massive difference to me being a new mum and I made many friends from the group. I now have three children and gained much support at the group with each of them. I have since trained as a peer supporter and in the last couple of years become the Group Coordinator. I am currently studying to become a Breastfeeding Counsellor, which I am thoroughly enjoying. Outside of the group, I have my own childcare business and I am also a mentor. I love crafts, cooking, walks and gardening. Katharine, Group Co-Ordinator |
What mums say......
"I just wanted to say thank you for helping me today. I'm come away feeling a lot more positive about the challenges I've been having so I'm really happy I came along this morning"
"If it wasn't for yate breast friends' peer supporters, I wouldn't be breastfeeding now. They really helped me to understand my baby's feeding habits. Inspiring and empowering and motivating!"
